Chase's first mini family holiday! Empty Chase's first mini family holiday!

Post by MattsBabe7 Wed Sep 20 2017, 21:06

This Saturday is Matt and our daughters birthday (daddy and daughter share the same day) and we've planned a fun filled weekend away at the in-laws.

We'll be leaving Friday evening and returning on Sunday.
It's almost a four hour journey, depending on traffic, from here to Hampshire but fortunately Chase travels well in the car.

My only concern is leaving him alone at theirs on Saturday to go and enjoy a day out with the family.
He's not been with us long, then we go and take him somewhere completely different again. I don't want him to think he's being given another home again bless him.
He'll have his crate to stay in so it's familiar to him and I plan on getting a Kong on Friday to keep him busy for a while.

Oh and then to bring him back home again on Sunday and its straight off to surgery on Monday morning I dont want to s I dont want to s

He's not gonna like us very much Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I'd also leave things of yours for him, so maybe a few bits of old clothing or something. Your smell will be more reassuring for him than his dog crate. Leave things you don't mind him chewing, he might need to express himself!

But don't worry too much, you'll get a huge welcome when you get back, maybe have him glued to you for a bit, and then it'll be over and forgotten.

Have a good weekend!

I've got some old clothes I can wear all day tomorrow so he can have those on Saturday before we go along with his frozen Kong filled with peanut butter and his breakfast.

He'll get a good hours walk before we go too which will help and then another hours walk when we get back.

We visit the in-laws a few times a year and sometimes upto two weeks at a time so he'll get used to being there after a while

Thank you!
Maybe next time when we're down that way longer we can meet up with others in the Hampshire area ... If there are any?!

My Flo has some Bloodhound cousins down that way that we go visit sometimes. The advice Liz has given is what I would have suggested, I'm sure he will be fine, go have a great time and try not to worry Big Grin
