2nd jab, how long?
After been told 2 different answers from 2 vets and reading all kinds of different answers from Google, what is the recommended time to wait after pups 2nd jab before taking him out.
The 1st vet, the 1 we have known for years said 5 days, but the new vet who gave him his jab said 2 weeks.
Everyone is desperate to take him for a walk, but I'm not keen on the idea until I no its safe to do so.
He had his 2nd jab last Tuesday so it's been 8 days.
Thanks J

to be honest, it depends on the type of vaccine, but i would nirmally expect a pup to be allowed out by 7-10 days after the 2nd vaccine.

I think we were told a couple of weeks, time for the pup to create their own antibodies in response to the vaccine

We were told 7 - 10 days, we took him out after 7 and he was fine.

I was so impatient waiting until I could take Gus out for walks. We were told to wait a week. I was desperate to start socialising Gus with other dogs so I would take him to play with a friends dogs that were up to date with the vaccinations. Probably not recommended but it's what I decided to do.

Re: 2nd jab, how long?
My puppy had her first vac at 7 weeks with the breeder, I picked her up at 8 weeks. I had her out and about from day one. When it came to her having a second vac I couldn’t find a vets nr me that did a compatible one so had to start again. She lives with my other 3 dogs, 15, 9 and 4 year olds that have never been vaccinated in their lives.

Re: 2nd jab, how long?
i think all dogs should at least receive tgeir puppy vaccinations and tge first annual booster. Without those tgey're prey to some very nasty diseases like distemper, leptospirosis & parvovirus.
i can remember a time when many dogs lost their lives to those diseases, especially parvo. I jyst wouldn't risk it.
