We recently got our puppy skye and was told she was a staffy cross shes had her injections and weve taken her to a local indoor dog park today and been refused entry as theyve said shes a pit bull....she is such a lovely friendly pup only prob with her training to date is she needs socialising as shes very scared of EVERYTHING. Can you please give me some opinions as owners of other staffy and staffy cross puppies what you think of her breed she is 13wk old...ill try upload pic New to here but after advice with my puppy please 20170413

Unfortunately we have to harden ourselves to the prejudices shown towards our wonderful dogs. We have a highly regarded dog trainer in our area who refuses to train staffies full stop. As regards socialising we started off by asking friends who had friendly dogs if we could let Gus play with them. Once he was happy we started asking people on our walks if Gus could have a play with their dog, we were therefore able to pick the friendly dogs for Gus to play with.

Skye is stunning! Adore her ears!! People like that 9/10 have never been around the breed and just go of the bad bits in the news, makes me so angry because they are the most kind and friendliest breed I've ever been in contact with.

Just keep persisting to meet other nice tempered dogs, preferably at first dogs around his size. You can generally tell the good tempered dogs by the body language, and as for training if there are no classes near by,try doing a bit yourself as most of it is plain common sense.Just go somewhere quiet so the dog has no distractions with a pocket full of her favourite treats and it's surprising what can be achieved.Just keep the lessons short to begin with.Socializing is the most important lesson, that will make her a happy dog,and a happy dog is always easier to train.

Cannot add try socialising your pup with an older calmer dog if possible and try and look for obedience/training classes. Socialisation and training is key at the earliest opportunity i trained my dog myself. A lot is self explanatory a good dog trainer is victoria stillwell and her favourite is staffies . https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f55-staffordshire-bull-terrier-puppy-chat here is a link cor tge puppy section there is a lot of useful hints and tips from other users of the forum. Here also https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f3-staffordshire-bull-terrier-training-and-behaviour another link you may find useful. I've just posted on your other thread in the introductions section.

Can you take a photo of her side on standing up? And how old is she now?
