Cool Holidays in France with our SBT Buddy - can we?

Hi
Can anyone advise how we are likely to be received with our SBT on holiday in France. He's a gorgeous rescue dog with no pedigree papers but vet assures us he's full SBT, small dog. Can we use beaches? Does he need a muzzle when out and about etc. Any accommodation suggestions would be appreciated.
