I don't think black would show up, but I think a nice blue with chrome fittings would be nice.

Does it have to be leather? I don't like leather anyway (being veggie), but also it is quite hard and as Buddy has issues with hair loss I would have thought a fabric collar would be better. You can get some amazing ones now! Get your eyes round some of the handmade ones on Etsy

I would go for the red staffy one with the brass fittings, they look great on the staffy.I have just had one made to order for Tess and lead to match.I had the choice of black or Australian nut, which is a rich brown colour,so I went for the brown and she looks great in it.I went for the narrow show type collar which is 5/8 inch wide,I don't like the wide cloddy looking collars.

I have a soft collar (superdog!) fabric that he wears in the house but I want one a little tougher when we go out -he has been attacked twice now by bigger dogs both of whom went straight for his neck so I want something with a bit of protection -the collars I am looking at are padded leather with a suede lining so hopefully shouldn't rub him -only an inch thick and staffy knots and heads no spikes or anything like that he is too sweet natured to wear one of those ...

A word of warning - I wouldn't leave a collar on in the house/garden, etc. You can get really nasty accidents - Chaos had his collar on when visiting my in laws and managed to get a metal plant support wedged through it. Cases of dogs getting strangled by collars aren't unheard of.

he is never left alone with his collar on - if we go out he is crated but never with his collar - he has a slide on agility tag as well so that doesn't get caught when out playing - never in the garden on his own either- I would have no garden left if I did ! - I am very safety conscious with him don't worry folks Buddy is in safe hands - but thanks for all your concerns nice to know you all care about my little fella thumbs up
