A little advice about Tia the staffy and our pussy cat
Hi everyone
I just wanted to ask a little advice from you all in regards to Tia; our new 4-5 month old female staffy and our 8 month old house kitten. We introduced the two very calmly and slowly which seemed to have worked a treat on Tia's arrival. Tia isn't at all aggressive but does show a very high and unwanted attention to our cat. It all appears to be in a very playful manner but usually involves ending up with the cat being playfully chased by Tia which has included a little nip now and again.
Although Tia is playing as you can imagine our cat is not overly impressed by all the attention, although she has been known to start the play when Tia has been sleeping or relaxing out of the cats way. She doesn't show any signs of being scared or overly threatened by the dog though mind. Its just i worry (perhaps over worry if i am honest) that things could get a little too boisterous and bouncy which could lead to a little heated scrap. I'm currently forever finding myself having to use the 'Tia! Leave it!' quote more often than i would like which she abides to 90% of the time.
But my question is, how much is too much? And will there ever be a time where they are not so much interested in following each other's every move?

Just make sure the cat has an safe escape place it can get to when play time is over. Usually somewhere high, if the cat doesn't like the attention it wouldn't disturb Tia when she was resting just watch out for the claws near Tia's eyes!!!!

I would have said exactly the same as Jen, just ensure there is an escape route to somewhere high and out the way. I'm sure as time goes by they will either start to ignore each other or simply rub along like housemates

Thanks you two. Yeah i never though of it like that in regards to the cat coming back to play when Tia is not showing her any interest.
I always make sure the cat has an escape route; either the kitchen worktops or the back of several high sofas and chairs. I also make sure the two are and never would be left alone to their own devices as I for one would never settle! lol.
Here's hoping in time this'll work out!

I'm sure it will all be fine but will probably give you a good few laughs along the way

Thanks. So far today has been good. They've slowly began to tolerate one another that little bit more. Slow steps to the bigger picture though for sure

Re: A little advice about Tia the staffy and our pussy cat
Thank you, My only suggestion is what others have said. Make sure the cat had a get away everytime they are together. But at 8 weeks you'll have very little if no problems at all.
And remember as they grow they do become much more playful and boisterous, which can make playtime between the two look a lot worse than it actually is. Tia is great with Nala Cat and they have formed a great bond together. She knows her limits when it comes to playtime and Nala Cat gives just as good if not more lol. Have fun when your new Staffy arrives home! They are a real bundle of joy!

Re: A little advice about Tia the staffy and our pussy cat
It's great when such friendships work out. I was a little concerned to start that my two were going to constantly clash. But thankfully that's not the case.
