Yey well done Tex!!
So we had a fantastic walk today. Tex only shouted at one dog (a young boxer pup, but i know puppies are well beyond her social capabilities at the moment, especially when they're straining to get at her - which she hates!)
We saw 4 or 5 dogs in total, so to only have shouted at one is really good, and I'm very proud. Even more so because 2 of the dogs were allowed to approach her (not with my approval though) and she acted very well.
A Standard poodle scared her at first but then she decided she didn't mind so the tail wagged even though she still seem uncomfortable, she was very tolerant! *Applauds my pup*
A smaller poodle cross scared her as well by running full pelt at her, I was forced to pull Tex onto a particularly muddy bit of the field to give the owner that extra hint of "please back off!". Tex was very tense but still managed to stay fairy calm.
I do wish people wouldn't let their dogs approach her though when shes clearly muzzled. It makes things difficult for everyone. And to be honest, I thought it was basic doggy-walking respect not to let off-lead dogs approach on-lead dogs anyway, regardless of muzzles, or "i need space" jackets, or social capability.
Nevermind, my girl did well, and I wanted to share because I'm always very proud of her good days

Wow well done Tex! Sounds like a lovely walk, you must be very proud of her!!
I think seeing a dog either muzzled or on a lead is an instant green flag to let all dogs and people approach!
I used to think like you that it's etiquette to give any dog on a lead some space but I know better now
Congrats on the walk, sounds like she is a star!

Sounds like she's doing really well, I hate dogs coming at Katy when she's on her lead!!

Aw well done Tex. You will get to the point of mutual trust Em and things will become so much easier. It took me two years to work out my Flo and she's much more tolerant nowadays but I always put her on the lead if we come across another on lead, not because Flo would approach but more so that the other owner knows that I've noticed.

Well done Tex
It sounds like you had a great walk!
You'd think the muzzle would be enough for the owners to put their dogs back on lead! But of course their dog is friendly so must greet every other dog
