My local animal shelter needs funds for Toby's knees surgery - can you help?
Hi All,
Worcester Animal Rescue Centre, the one we've got our Mambo from, is looking for some financial help to fund Toby's - one of its Staffies - knees surgery. Below is the message I copied from their website http://www.wars.org.uk/
A little while ago one of our dog-walkers noticed that Toby was limping badly. When it didn't get any better he was taken to see the vet, who discovered that he needed major surgery on both his knees to sort him out.
Poor little Toby is convalescing now after the first operation. He has to be kept quiet for 6 weeks rehabilitation after each operation to make sure he doesn't damage the knee. As you can imagine this is a very sad state for such an active dog. He does appreciate the extra treats that some kind volunteers have been bringing in for him
It is going to cost the Shelter £700 to have both knees fixed, which is a huge sum for us to raise. Please if anyone can donate anything towards the costs we would be very very grateful.
And this is Toby:
I hope Toby will get better soon and will find a loving owner...

Poor Toby, there are just too many dogs in shelters in the same condition, its so sad, £700 isn't much so I'm off to do my bit, (not a lot spare though) shame though because it will never solve the problem but I admire the work these people do Xx

Re: My local animal shelter needs funds for Toby's knees surgery - can you help?
thank you so much!
wars staff are amazing and loving, they do SO MUCH to our local community with so much passion! We met Toby, he was at the shelter when we adopted Mambo, he's such a lovely boy. we didn't take him because he was a bit too big and far too active for living in a small flat but he would be a great pet to anyone... I really hope he will get well soon and will have a chance to be rehomed again, because now they had to take him off the rehoming list so he has to wait even longer

It's a very sad time for us at the Shelter. Unfortunately, due to complications with Toby's second knee operation, he was in an intolerable amount of pain and discomfort even with medication. We have regrettably had to follow the strong advice from our vets and have Toby put to sleep.
Thank you to all our supporters for your time, energy and donations to help Toby and give him the best chance. He will be missed by all who met him.
just read it on the shelter's website...
