dry food recomendations - Gone off food Empty Gone off food

Post by bella's mum Mon Dec 28 2015, 10:58

For the last couple of days Bella ( who is 14 weeks ) seems to have gone off her food. She is on Royal Canin dry food and usually scoffs the lot no problem. She was on 4 feeds a day but recently cut down to 3. However for the last few days its a struggle to get her to eat at her usual times and last 2 days has only managed 2 meals.

On christmas day i'm convinced my family gave her sone scraps ( she had never had human food before). She didnt seem herself that night - more sleepy and on boxing day she was sick once Sad She is eating her treats no problem when doing her training and yesterday had a ham bone to chew on. Today its now 11am and she still hasnt eaten her breakfast - she usually eats this around 7am. She is still drinking water & going to the toilet ok.

A bit worried about her so any thoughts / advice would be appreciated !

This isn't uncommon in my house. We tried a wide variety of foods before Flo settled on one that she liked. It could be that Bella has got bored of the same thing or it could simply be a change to routine due to the Christmas break.

You could try taking the food away after a half hour if she doesn't eat it when you put it down or you could just allow her to graze through the day. Different people use different methods.

I wouldn't think that there is much wrong if Bella is drinking and eating treats ok she might just be being a little fussy.

Thanks, Ian. I was wondering if it may be due to the disruption from the normal routine due to the holiday break. She is more sleepy but i may just be noticing this more because i have been at home with her all day the last few days

Any change in behaviour is always a worry to us. I would keep an eye on her and if you're still worried tomorrow give the vets a call. If it turns out to be nothing, which I'm sure it will, it'll give you peace of mind.
