Hello
Hi all, I'm Donna.
I'm soon to be getting a Male staffy ( end of January) who will be called Simon.
I joined here to get a bit of advice.
I plan on crate training him and was wondering if there was a best way to do this. Looking online gives so many different ways to do it!
I'm also unsure as to when it's best to have him castrated, if at all. I'm not buying him to breed or anything, just as a new member of my family and beloved pet.
Thanks in advance
Donna x

Re: Hello
Hi ya Donna, welcome to the forum from Flo & me
Crate training can be very useful if you get it right. In the first instance, it should never be used for punishment it should be somewhere Simon can call his own and a nice safe haven.
Plent of room is needed so bare that in mind when you buy a crate as the tiny puppy will grow into a 17kg hulk A nice cosy bed some toys and to begin with, an article of your clothing with your scent on it. A cover over the top so it feels like a den is also a good idea.
I can't emphasise enough though that this needs to be his safe zone and not a jail.
