Re: Walking Staffs
Yes of course you can as long as it's under control I.E. You can recall.
That applies to all breeds not just Staffies.

Re: Walking Staffs
It depends where you are. You are not allowed to let them off lead in Ireland.

Re: Walking Staffs
Rules relating to certain breeds of dog
The Control of Dogs Regulations 1998 impose additional rules in relation to the following breeds (and strains/cross-breeds) of dog:
American pit bull terrier
English bull terrier
Staffordshire bull terrier
Bull mastiff
Dobermann pinscher
German shepherd (Alsatian)
Rhodesian ridgeback
Rottweiler
Japanese akita
Japanese tosa
Bandog
The rules state that these dogs (or strains and crosses of them) must:
Be kept on a short strong lead by a person over 16 years who is capable of controlling them
Be muzzled whenever they are in a public place
Wear a collar bearing the name and address of their owner at all times.
The rules on muzzling and leashing do not apply to dogs used by the GardaĆ, the Dublin Harbour Police, State Airport Police and bona fide rescue teams in rescue operations. The rules on muzzling do not apply to guide dogs for the blind.

Re: Walking Staffs
So if you get savaged by a breed not on that list less serious. Mad.
Stanley's off the lead all the time unless I think there's a threat. I even use him to get other people's untrained dogs back to them now and then. Your Staffy is perfectly capable of being trained so as long as they're socialised and have a recall etc. that's fine. Stan's best mate is a Puggle called Bailey. Unfortunately most of your problems will be because too many people think rules don't apply to them, only others.

Re: Walking Staffs
If you have full control of your dog, and your dog has excellent recall i dnt see why your dog can't be off the lead. In certain areas there are rules that state ANY breed of dog cannot be let off lead at all. if you take your dog to a new area just be observant of any rules for the council of that area
