Pick up on SUnday :D
Pick up my wee staffy bitch on Sunday. Only actually seen her when she was 1 week old but this is the latest pic from the owner.

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
She will be 6 and a half weeks when I pick her up. I know this is young but I have spoken to my local vet and she has assured me that its not as bad as people think.

Hi is there any reason you are picking up your wee pup early?

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
It was just the date the breeder gave us, didn't actually realise that she would only be 6 and a half weeks old until I got home after paying the deposit. I have done some reading about it and like everything there are mixed reviews. To be honest I think it is to cut the cost to the breeder as we have to get her vaccinated as well.

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
I realise you already paid the deposit but the puppy will lose vital time with mum imo . As long as you get the necessary health checks done hopefully the pup will be fine

She will be getting health checked and first vaccinations 1 week after we get her. Was going to do it the same day but didn't want to bring her home and the take her to the vets to get hurt :/.

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
I personally would ask the breeder if they will keep her a couple of weeks longer but say you'll pay for any costs of feed and vacc. It'll be the same to you financially and make the world of difference to her.
She's a real poppet!

Definitely think it would be great if she could stay with mum a bit longer. I know my girl was taken from mum at four weeks and I know she missed out on a lot. Your pup is so georgeous !

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
I spoke with the breeder and she has said that all the pups have already been separated from the mother because she was snapping at all of them (think 9 pups would do this) lol. I have been so excited to pick her up and now I am worrying

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
Alarm bells are ringing slightly for me! I'm assuming this breeder isn't registered? Have you met both parents? Did they seem okay temperamentally? When it comes down to it, these puppies are in the world now and they have to go somewhere, just hope that those buying them are going in with their eyes open, and fully aware of the possible implications later down the line from separating from mum so early. At least they're still with the litter mates I suppose! So many irresponsible breeders about!!
If you do decide to go ahead, please feel free to use the forum for advice - I haven't had a puppy myself as I've always rescued, but there are lots that will be working through the same training as you that will be able to offer vital support/advice.

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
Perhaps it's not ideal but she's yours and I'm sure you only want to do what's best. Doesn't sound like a very responsible breeder.
Don't fret, all is not lost. As soon as the vaccinations are done and she's allowed out to mix, get her into puppy classes to socialise as this is the learning she will be lacking. I'm sure, nope certain, that you'll have a loyal happy Staffy for life and as mentioned above, we are all here to help where we can

Re: Pick up on SUnday :D
I saw Katy advertised as a 6wk old pup, when we went to see her the woman said her uncle in Sheffield had bred her & she went up to get her at 5wks old to bring her home, long drive to the south east They only kept her a wk & then wanted to sell her This poor little thing had already had 2 homes in 6wks of her life. Needless to say, I wasn't leaving her in a basement flat in a town with a 2yr old kid slapping her She needed lots of attention & reassurance but I think has turned out to be a beautiful dog inside & out

She will be going to puppy classes as this is our first family dog and not sure about training her ourselves.

Hi danny puppy classes are not only good for training but also socialisation too some areas also organise puppy parties and in some areas pack walks. your pup and you will learn a lot from this.
