Re: big staffy
Hi from me and mine!
40kg - crikey, that's a big dog. I'm afraid I'm going to disagree with your vet and say that's not a full staffy. That's way over the top weight for the breed standard, so even given a little leeway he can't be full staff. I'd love to see a photo...

He had to get his teeth fixed as he had a bit of an under bite so went to a specialist k9 dentist, he also said he was full staff, but then he grew another 16kg lol ,

Re: big staffy
I would disagree also with him being a full staffie. My girl is big for a staffie and she's 20kg! Scott type American Bulldog's crossed with staffies can have a similar look.. Did you see his parents?

Re: big staffy
He looks lovely but i can tell from your profile pic he is NOT a pure staffy. There is some bull breed in there and it may be staffy, but it could equally be american bulldog or similar.

Re: big staffy
If you could post a full body pic we could have a better guess at the parentage. Katy is staffie but weighed in at 25kgs @ last weigh-in, but she's a tall girl & 3yrs old now so fully grown (hopefully)

Re: big staffy
thank you everyone who replied iv gone onto website and looked at american bull dog staff mix and yes he looks like many of the pictures there, his breed makes no difference to me as hes such a lovely dog and i wouldnt part with him but i knew he was way bigger than he should be and still has more to grow. Hes a very powerful dog and im thankful that he is well socialised. however when people see him they are always commenting on him, some are quite fearful of him until they see hes such a good natured dog and i was starting to feel a bit silly saying he was a staff when he towered above all the others ,

Re: big staffy
I would probably not say he is a staff at that size. Not sure what you would call him though. I take it he was sold as a staff?

Re: big staffy
Dogs can potentially have several fathers to a litter...so two staffs COULD give a mix if the bitch was exposed to another dog. I had a lab who was caught once by the neighbors springer and rottweiler. she had a brown and white pup who grew up to look very spaniel like with long hairy ears and a fussy tail and general features and one black and tan who looked a bit like a fat stumpy doberman with short ears and no hair anywhere.

Re: big staffy
He looks a lot like my dog's mum actually - she had a pure staffy mum and an american bulldog/rottweiler dad. Does look like a bull breed though, I usually say Gizmo's a 'mostly staff' because he's technically 3/4...
