Cuddles or dominance?
blue staff, Beau, since a pup, she has put paws up on my shoulders and Nuzzled in, pushing my head from one side to other, she two now and has started doing this after barking at strangers and noises, her head generally gets higher than mine as she curls around my shoulders, I've been warned this could be her dominating. Your thoughts?

Re: Cuddles or dominance?
Not sure but mine does it with me and I don't think she is wanting to dominate but just likes being there, maybe a staff thing. Seen a few pics of stafs curled up by head.

Re: Cuddles or dominance?
Mine will do this on occasion. I see it as being in a comfort zone rather than dominance.

I'm so glad,Beau and I have been close since she was tiny, now my Bess, staff cross, has never done cuddles, but she quite big, she spreads herself around the family, but Beau only cuddles me really, and I didn't want to stop her, I'm grateful for your replies, thankyou

Re: Cuddles or dominance?
I'm sure you know Beau best, as long as you don't feel its dominant then don't worry and enjoy those cuddles. If we are all honest it could be argued that when yer Staffy gets on the bed and then spread Eagles leaving you only an inch on the edge is a sign of dominance

Re: Cuddles or dominance?
Have a quick read through this:
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t62292-debunking-the-myth-the-dominance-theory
So I really don't see dominance. If anything, it sounds more like insecurity, that she's worried by strangers and noises, then comes looking to you for reassurance.
If I was to do anything at all in this situation, I'd be looking to help her relax around strangers more, and desensitise her to noises.

Re: Cuddles or dominance?
I am now convinced Emma, the staffs are tactile, love being held, nothing to indicate dominance, they are just soppy lol
