Try Akela Working Dog (exactly the same as the Akela Pet Dog but you don't pay VAT). Really good quality ingredients. I've made a point of studying every food under the sun because of Bo's colitis and IMO Akela is pretty much the best dry food you can buy, along with Aatu and Orijen and a couple of others. Don't be put off by the high price of the bags, the food is good quality so you don't need to feed much.

What was he on before hand? Could it be a certain meat that has triggered his itching?

We have been looking at some lately and have come across a few. James Wellbeloved, Burns, Barking Heads, Arden Grange I think are all ones that are recommended somewhere on here Smile

Exactly what Emma said.. it could be the meat/protein that's affecting your dog.

Zeus has been on many foods (wet, dry and now raw) and chicken always used to set him off, fish too.

Try putting him on something like James Wellbeloved or Wainwrights which come in different flavours and go for a meat/protein that he hasn't been on before.

I also put 'Yumega Plus' in Zeus's food which has calmed his itching/scratching down considerably.

That makes two of us. Zeus got diagnosed with Colitis too so I feel your pain. In the end, it was Raw (Venison) that managed to keep it under control and haven't had any flare ups in a while.. (touchwood!).

Well hes always had a chicken, and beef flavured kibble. And was only for until i changed the brand, he was given to me on bakers chicken, and i then changed it to JwB large breed chicken, but have now ordered a dozen different hypoallergenic foods in turkey and fish as I heard fish is good for skin? And have ordered fish oil,and some anti itch stuff off the vets. So hoping it works now.

Hey, I feed nature diet which has done wonders for Bug's skin, and order it in bulk online. A friend of mine was using fish4dogs, but when they changed the ingredients her dog started flaring up again. In kennels we always used wafcol on dogs with bad skin or sensitive tummies - it only gets a 3 out of 5 on review websites, but I have seen it truly work wonders. We also used to mix in tinned salmon to make it a little more appetising and get some more oils in, but I think that's quite pricey. Has your vet offered an antihistamine to help with the itching while you're changing foods?

I have ordered a 3kg pack of wafcol, also a skinners salmon, a supadog senstive, and want to buy eden food but I can't seem to find where you can buy it. Do you just feed the natures diet wet trays? I have naturo? Is that similar quality?

Raw is the only food Bo won't touch, unfortunately. I may try again in the future but right now we're having some success with feeding dry only, as I think the sheer volume of wet was causing part of the problem at least. It's a full-time job stopping him eating rubbish off the floor, which sometimes sets him off - today already he's eaten two mouthfuls of goose crap and some 6 inch dried reeds.
