Being a bit of a weirdo... Empty Being a bit of a weirdo...

Post by Bane Fri Apr 17 2015, 21:29

So I'm not really sure what's got Bane all worked up lately but he is being a bit strange.

The last couple of days he has just pulled and pulled on his lead, constantly sniffing. If I stop he will barely do the commands I ask, and he just pulls on straight away once done.

In the evenings, we usually eat dinner and then he cuddles on my lap asleep until about 10pm when I put him to bed and go myself.
The last few days he has just been up wandering around, whining, sniffing at the front door, going off a laying in odd places that he doesn't usually.
He asks to go out a lot and when we let him out he just goes and stands in the garden. He sort of seems almost like a zombie at times and he just won't settle.

I think one of the dogs down the road may be in season or just coming out of, but this has never affected his behaviour before. Could this be what's keeping him up? Or is it more likely to be something else? Maybe some noises have disturbed him while we've been out? He just seems a bit lost in the evenings.

Could well be a dog in season locally. My Flo is a nightmare at the moment with the constant sniffing... She's constantly running to catch us up, I think spring brings a lot of strong natural smells so it could be a combination of things Emma.

I've heard stories about female dogs in season driving male dogs crazy but never seen it in Bane before. Obviously he's more keen to smell them at the park etc, but it's never disturbed his home life...

Ian I was thinking maybe it was something to do with the change of weather too. I know the grass seems to be ripe lately as he's enjoying mid walk snacks Laughing

Tell me about it! Park can't be any further than 500m...took us the best part of 20 minutes to get there this morning and I was like this when we finally arrived --> at wits end

Bo has been sniffing madly for a couple of weeks now, and eating grass like a cow. He always sniffs but not this much, it must be the coming of spring.

Giz doesn't have that excuse being neutered and his nightime walks have been a stretch armstrong experience. He was an absolute nightmare last night but seems to have calmed down now I've brushed his molt off a bit more.

At least the dog in heat and spring change came all at once then so we don't have to deal with him like this for twice as long Laughing

He seems to be settling again, I have a snoring pooch on my lap Smile

I also think it's a spring thing. Birds eggs, pollen, bitches in heat and bbq's are all new smells at the moment.
Tonight I took Theia out on her usual walk and on the way back we were about 50m behind a woman with a buggy, Theia was nose down, bum up, dragging me as we walked, until we crossed the road.

Plus there are squirrels and bunnies everywhere you look. Nola is a nightmare in spring (even worse than normal Laughing ) and has to stay on the lead a lot as she buggers off all the time. She even took off between the gate and the car the other day.

Poor Chaos took off after a squirrel in the woods yesterday and jumped a ditch in the process. Then he couldn't work out how to get back again. Poor little man got so upset. Sad Serves him right.
