R.I.P Homer (2005 - 2015)
We lost a beloved Staffie VERY suddenly in early February. Homer was our first Staffie (but not our last!) and it was his incredible intelligence, gentle nature and mischievous attitude that made us fall in love with the breed.
We would have nearly ten wonderful years with Homer, but unfortunately he succumbed to Hemangiosarcoma, a very aggressive form of cancer, on the 2nd of February. We had no idea he had cancer. Just the day before he passed he was bounding around in the snow with his sister, stealing our shoes and nicking clothes out of the tumble dryer to make a bed out of (yes, he knew how to open the dryer...) Just like he always did. Typical Staffie. He didn't show us he was ill until it was too late. It was very sudden. He fell ill around 11AM (suddenly collapsed and wouldn't, or couldn't, get up) and was rushed to the vets, who were wonderful and worked on him for over six hours, but unfortunately he couldn't be saved. He passed away very peacefully in my father's arms at 5PM.
Rest in peace, buddy. You may have been a pain in the arse (lost count of the number of times we had to rewash a load of clothes because you'd emptied the dryer and rubbed your dirty paws all over them! Not to mention the dozens of shoes you destroyed....), but you were OUR pain in the arse, and we loved you dearly. We are utterly heartbroken, but smile at the many, many great memories we have of you. Your sister (also a Staffie) loves and misses you too. We will be hugging her a little bit tighter from now on.
