Is your pooch a twig eater?
Eating sticks is obviously play time human.
Hiya Staffie lovers!
I'm just having a quick look online, as I've just spied my three year old - Rosie munching down twigs and branches in the garden.
The minute I say 'leave' or 'no' she thinks its play time and runs around the garden so fast! Stopping to pick up more twigs and eat while she runs!!
I love her to bits, but she's a bit of a nightmare when it comes to stopping her doing this! I have to tempt her or catch her - by which time she's eaten everything.
She's the same when I pick up her poops in the morning - she goes barmy and eats grass and runs round like a loon!
Just wondered if anyone has experienced something similar!!
Thanks,
Hannah

Chewing sticks and me chasing him around to get them off him is the bestest game EVER! For Sheara
He used to eat the smaller twigs and leaves and a stone or two! Its like they know they're not supposed to do it but they're gonna do it anyway to wind you up!
Going crazy after pooping is quite common I believe. Apparently it comes down to the praising and big "Well dones!" when you trained them back in the day? Its like a proud moment I guess

I've replied for Millie, who is awful at stick eating. And we have wood fired central heating, which means bits of wood everywhere, and sticks all over the garden... aaagh!
A dog we had years ago, Mungo, had to have surgery to remove a stuck stick and I keep telling Millie, but will she listen? You'd think she didn't understand plain English!

tessa hunts sticks and then shreds them but doesn't actually EAT them. she loves it after there have been high winds over-night and there are loads of them every where it's heaven for her. she drags 6 or 8 foot branches around the park and when she gets them down to a managable size she takes them home. we have about a dozen in our porch.
yes she is a grass eater but only in the summer stangely? suppose it tastes sweeter with a bit of sun on it. it's the only thing i can't get her out of so any suggestions would be warmly welcomed.

Re: Eating sticks is obviously play time human.
Flo is a stick eater. Having seen her swallow huge chunks of stick I began to get worried by potential vet bills so now buy her the Kong Stix. Given the chance she would still chomp a stick but having the Stix as a throw toy she doesn't bother with the wooden version at all now.
The Stix are an added expense and if she was left alone with it, it would be in pieces very quickly. We have had an added bonus with it though, because she is only allowed to play fetch with it and we remove it at all other times, it's now become her bestest toy ever so if I need to distract her we simply produce the Stix
