I have to say it sounds like frustration to me. How much interaction/stimulation does he get other than walks? Kongs and stuff are find for a short while but I don't think they are enough to keep a dog interested for long. They need variety and mental stimulation as well as something to chew. Try giving him something he needs to think about as well, such as hiding treats in different places for him to find, putting treats in an old box for him to trash and get to, and also maybe ask your partner to play with him during the day, fetch, tugging games, etc., or if possible some fun training stuff.

A cheap alternative is ripping old clothing to make a rope toy using a. Plastic bottle and putting treats in Smile

would agree with Liz it does sound like he is bored/frustrated when he goes for his walks is some of the time off lead so he gets a good run,try upping his walks so he gets a bit longer see if this helps at all Smile

Haven't let him off lead since he was a pup as to be fair don't trust other dogs and letting him off now don't know if he'd listen as he hasn't been off lead since pup but I have got flexi lead for him which gives him bit more freedom

the long lead is a better lead than the flexi lead,i personally would'nt trust them(not strong enough for my liking)a long lead is really good they can have their freedom to run but you are in control and can get them back to you if needed, also they are really good to practise their recall with thumbs up

I'd try the long lead as well. Also have you looked into a backpack if you have to leave him for an extended time. This will tire him out a bit more and may help.

A bloomer ball works wonders. Stag bars to chew on, they good and very tasty. Long lead time too so they can run off their engery. Dont do the same old walks, as they like to sniff out new walks. Plastic bottles if your dog does not swallow the bits. Always rise them out first.

They are a great investment and help out with the energy levels. Just be sure to start off slow and gradually increase the weight and distance.
