A sad hello
Hi all, My first post here
I've been keeping dogs all of my life but 8 years ago I got my first staffy, a little brindle and white girl we called Kali.
She was an amazing dog, unlike any other I've owned and she captured my heart so much so that a few years later I bought another, this time a nice big chunky dog, they quickly became best of mates, Kali would mother the new arrival and they became inseparable
Fast fwd a couple of years and I noticed a lump about halfway down Kali's tail, a few days later I found another so we took her to the vet who diagnosed a tumour and they removed her tail, she recovered well and went back to being the happy dog she was before.
Just before last Christmas I noticed that she had another lump on the stump of her tail, she also had a couple of lumps on her side that seem to have sprang up over night, back to the vets who diagnose mast cell tumours on her side and another tumour on her her tail, so another op to remove what was left of her tail and remove the worst of the mast cell tumours which by now had started to bleed constantly
The tumours were sent off for analysis and the results came back 3 weeks ago were the worst news possible, malignant and very aggressive form of cancer
Last Saturday evening she lost control of her bladder and the use of her back legs, the tumour from her tail had spread up her spine, I called the vet out and she died in my arms at home the night before her 8th birthday
I've lost dogs before but I've never had my heart ripped out like this, I can honestly say this is the saddest I've ever felt in my life and what makes it worse is my boy is missing his best mate, he's hardly eating and he just looks so sad
So now I'm looking for a new friend for my boy and for me and the wife.
We are looking for a bitch, colour not important, but not interested in Blues.
Must be KC reg and L-2HGA and HC-HSF4 clear, and we would prefer to see one or both parents too.
Asking price or distance is not an issue, and we can offer a very stable and loving home in the countryside, large garden surrounded by acres of fields and woods, I work from home so the dogs are never left home alone and we would welcome any vetting
Thanks for reading and if anybody can help us with our quest we'd be very great full

Re: A sad hello
My heart goes out to you. Every dog is special but there are some that just get you deep down, and Kali was clearly one in a million.
I hope you find your new dog soon and that Stafford finds the wag in his tail again.

I'm so sorry for your loss must have been horrific. I don't know anything much about breeders, I'm involved with the rescue side of things, but I'm sure somebody will be able to lead you in the right direction.

Re: A sad hello
Thank you all for the warm welcome and the kind words
If I didn't already have a boy who is almost 5 then I would be definitely going down the rescue route, the amount of beautiful staffies being given away in the freeads because their owners can no longer be bothered is sad and depressing, and the amount of so called blue puppies being advertised was also a bit of a shock too
My son works for the Dogs Trust so I know exactly how many staffies go through those places and I could re home from there but I can't really afford to take on the gamble of an unknown quantity, it wouldn't be fair on my boy or the other dog if it didn't work out
Anyway, Just had the vet call to say I can go and pick Kali's ashes up
RIP my beautiful little girl

Re: A sad hello
Totally understand, wasn't a dig in any way I just really don't know any breeders! Also agree about the amount of BYB blues coming forward, just because they're fashionable! There are some gorgeous well bred puppies on the forum, hopefully one of their owners will be able to lead you in the right direction RIP to your little love, so sad for you xx
