Concerned

Hi sorry if this gets asked a lot but we have recently rehomed a staffy from a lovely lady who couldn't have him anymore due to work commitments. The question i have is when we have been walking him a couple of people have commented that he is big for a staffy and one lady even asked if he was a pitbull, he is quite large and weighs 59ib which is more than wikipedia says they should weigh. So now Im driving my self mad with worry that he is some sort pitbull cross, the pitbull part doesn't even really bother us, i've always believed its the owners that make a bad dog not the breed, it's more the worry he will be seized suddenly and that could happen anytime we are all really attached to him already and he's such a good dog with my daughter. don't look like a pitbull to me. all i see is a gorgeous staffie cross.
just relax and enjoy him and stop worrying about things that won't happen.

Just looks like a big staffy! I have noticed that people are breeding blues much bigger than standard. My girl is 45lbs and she's quite lean.

In my opinion he looks staff x lab, but it really doesn't matter as he's gorgeous

Thanks for all the comments I feel better now, I was going to say to people if they asked that he is staff x lab as I thought that too. I'll just try not to worry about it. We are definitely enjoying him tho! He makes sure of that lol

He may be large but so are AmStaffs but one thing for sure, he isn't a pit.

id say he is a staffy crossed with a chocolate labrador gorgeous none the less and well done on taking him on as the family pet.

I agree too. My boy Chaos is lean and if my conversion from kg is right he's about 48lbs. Apart from the different colouring, I'd say he's quite similar in build to your lad, and Chaos is no pitbull.

If it helps any, the definition of a pitbull or pitbull type for UK legal purposes is all down to measurements and I defy any lady in the street to be able to spot one without a tape measure. If anyone else asks you, just laugh it off lightheartedly, 'my goodness no! he's just a soppy old crossbreed' or something like that.

He is, by the way, a lovely looking dog with such a kind expression. Well done for taking him in.

I think that's what made me worry more is the fact he is really lean I couldn't even say he eats too much because there isn't any extra fat on him lol.

I guess there's no point worrying about something that might never happen anyway, it's just you get so attached to them don't you. I also read about his colour being undesirable but we just love it.

Most people wouldn't know a pit bull from a goat. He's almost certainly a Staff / Lab cross and great looking too. Love his white foot!

Same here peppa is about 45lb now and prooves that good things come in big sizes sometimes just enjoy your beautiful boy and ignore the ignorants!
