Moulting? Empty Moulting?

Post by Nalabala Sun Feb 15 2015, 04:06

Hi guys, just wonder how much your staffy's moult? I expected her to lose some fur now and then particular when giving her a good rub down and scratch, but she sheds so much more than we expected. I thought staffy's didn't lose much fur, but we need to put down a separate rug on our bed to keep it hair free and her bed is full of fur also. It does brush off easily, so it's not an issue, but we are a little surprised.

Is she all staffy or a cross? And is this all year round or only recent? They do go through stages of shedding a lot between seasons. Bug loses afaie bit of fur, but it's not excessive.

My Flo seems to lose it all year round but I wouldn't say it was excessive.

She's a pure staffy. Hmm maybe it just seems excessive since I didn't expect her to. It's definitely more the last few months than when we first got her (it's summer now). Not sure if that's why but it definitely started a few months ago. Perhaps it's because we have white sheets and white couches and she's a bluey fawn so it's easy to see.
Sorry HannahandMichael, I have no idea what you mean..?

Rubys white so it always looks like shes moulting alot, and even though staffys have short fur its not like a dobermans where there fur doesnt really shed that much,

Bo sheds a bit from his back in summer and a little more from his undercarriage in winter... so far only one of each season so maybe that will change. The fur on his back is still thick even when its shedding (I can't apply the flea drops properly because I can't part it enough to see his skin) but the fur just above and to the sides of his belly is very thin now and you can see his skin. His chest fur is very thick and whorly, like a rug in a slapper's boudoir (probably)... maybe I should buy him a medallion to finish off the effect.

Mine doesn't malt that much - at this time of year anyway. But his skin is very dry at the moment (probably because of the central heating) and he has a bit of dandruff.
