Portions!
Hi
I have recently picked up my first order from DAF and I have to say I am mighty impressed by what you get for the money. My freezer suddenly has more dog food in there than food for the family!!
The packs of mince come in at 494g so I have been giving Cooper half of this on a morning and half in the evening. He absolutely loves it but when the meat has defrosted his portion looks tiny. Is this the case with everyone who feeds a raw diet? Is it more to do with what is in the meat than the size of the portion? As I say Cooper loves it but always seems to be looking around for more food but I guess that could be because he's a dog!!
I am obviously watching his weight but it's just the portion size that got me worried. He only weighs 17/18kg so he gets the full 494g of meat per day which I believe is around the right daily amount for him.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Portions!
That sounds about right to me. You'll soon see if it's not enough and will get to judge what he needs.

Re: Portions!
I wonder that sometimes! I know from when we defrost a bulk lot on the draining board, a lot of blood and water does drain away. If he will eat it frozen, you can always feed frozen. Takes a bit to get one of the packs in half though
Just see how he gets on for a week or so. If you have access to scales, give him a weigh in and if he has lost weight or you notice him being a bit skinny, add another couple of hundred grams a day.
It will take a couple of weeks to get settled into it and it won't cause any harm
