Antler warning.
Theia loves her antler and we let her have it for about 20 minutes a day and it's always when we're there. This morning she had the last scragg end of one and she split it in half length ways. She suddenly jumped up and started retching, I thought she was choking, she ran to me and I realised a piece had jammed across her palate.
I've had the same thing happen twice with Floyd with sticks, it got very bloody with him as he clawed his face and my hands when I got to him. I just pinned him and flicked it out with my finger.
So this helped me not to panic and drama over in 2 seconds, and she went back to chomping away quite happily.
My advice is to make sure you're in easy reach of the pooch if you give them anything like this and never crate them with one.

Re: Antler warning.
I would always be here when Rocky has his stag but I have heard people say they leave their dogs alone with them bad idea really.

Poor Theia, damn good job you were there. I only let Vin have his when I am here and never leave him alone with it. He prefers a hoof these days but they hoot!

Leased to hear Theia is all ok. I always remove the antler when it gets close to being a size that Flo might try and swallow to be honest. By then it's pretty much done in anyways

Re: Antler warning.
Thanks for your thoughts on Theia, but like all Staffies, she didn't bat an eyelid!
When Floyd did it, my hands took a bit damage along with his face. When I got it out, I'm trying to catch my breath and sort us out, Floyd grabbed the same stick and trotted off again! Oh how I laughed!!!!!!
