Constipated
Good Morning, i wonder if anyone can help me. Alfie is 7 months old now and has been on Arden Grange puppy/junior since i he has been on solid foods, the past two weeks his poo seems to be extremely hard and small, i have been giving him some sardines in sunflower oil in one of his daily meals to try and loosen him up, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Should i try a different brand of food, or move him up to the next stage of the puppy/junior of the same brand.
Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Constipated
I'm not an expert in this area at all Jay but was under the impression that the small the movement the more they actually digest of the food leaving less waste. Why it should have started all of a sudden whilst being on the same food for a while is beyond me though.
Hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon to give you a better answer

Thanks Ian, that's interesting. Recently i've been giving him bones i've bought from the pet shop to try and take his mind off chewing everything else in the house. No bones in particular, different ones all the time, i wonder if these have a bearing on it.

Re: Constipated
Hi Jay,
How many poo's does Alfie have each day?
Hard poo isn't something I would be overly worried about but if you are concerned that this is out of the ordinary for Alfie then have a chat with the vet or vet nurse, they will be able to put you right on this subject.

My Sheila cant eat proper bones as it makes her constipated... she can eat hide bones but only a small one no more than once a week.

Re: Constipated
Bones will make him constipated for sure. They're not cooked bones are they, if they're from the pet shop?
