Sad times Empty Sad times

Post by debdawg Thu Dec 04 2014, 17:03

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have an 11 month old Staff called Baxter, unfortunately I have to find him a new home. My health has deteriorated and I'm no longer able to look after him (I didnt have health issues when I took him on). I have been hiring dog walker to take him out, but it's not an ideal situation as some days I cant even get up with him in the morning. He is the love of my life and he knows I'm not well as he's always by my side and snuggling with me. But I have to make my decision in his best interest.

I have advertised locally and visited a couple of families, but they just werent suitable, I guess I have high expectations for my boy. I don't want him to go to kennels, he would be so upset and would hate to be on his own.

I was wondering if anyone had any solutions or ideas, or if anyone knows of someone that could rehome him, I live in Colchester, Essex.

Thank you x

Hi, sorry you are having to give up your dog due to your ill health. We cannot allow private rehoming ads on the forum. Have you considered a rescue centre ?, many are able to put the dogs into foster care until a suitable home arises.

A rescue center would be the best idea, they are very experienced in knowing what is best for each individual dog
Here is a link to some rescue centers.

I can tell from your post that you love him very much. Sorry I can't really offer any solutions that you haven't tried already. Hope you can find him a nice family home.

So sorry to hear you are not well If I were you I would keep looking myself for the right home and check it thoroughly or you can contact rescue centre but keep him at home till they find a suitable home.

Contact the blue cross Smile they do a "home from home" scheme, so would work to find him a suitable home and home check, plus the potential adopters would meet you and your dog, and you can say no if you don't feel right. Great organisation too.

Really sorry to read your I'll and echo the sentiments of everyone in here about having to give up your best freind. If I was closer I would have willingly adopted him till you were back on your feet.
