im new to this forum I have a 3 year old bull terrier. I was led to believe he was a SBT but im unsure as hes much taller and a complete different body shape to any SBT I have come across many thanks

hi and welcome, withought papers you will never know but to be frank does it matter? im sure you love him no matter what he is. all bully breeds/crosses welcome here just look at my two mutts who def dont confirm to sbt standards for any stretch of the imagination. they do however have a bully heart though.

this is completely true I would just like to know myself for no real reason I love him no matter what

post a few pics, there are some good eyes on here that will give you an "educated guess" nothing firm but a stear in the direction

oh wow what stunning form! tbh he could be a pure staff just outside the standard breed for size. he is a stunner for sure and whatever you do keep him looking like that he is spot on mate

thanks mate he's mine and my girlfriends pride and joy just to try get the pulling a bit more under control

i would hazzard a guess that he is the result of breeding big staffies together so he has turned out larger that the breed standard. he fits proportions fine just a bit bigger. as for the pulling, channel it! get a bike and run him out such a buz. here for advice/contacts if you want to go down that route, here are my two at the last race, they go nuts for it and they can pull to there hearts content https://youtu.be/hLOs0Pnsv_A?list=UUH-rllrJqQXbIdG998XcuSw

my boy is the most aloof stuck up his own ass dog you will ever meet yet when he is working he is super alert. he will actually antisipate where i can and cant go on a bike now and route us there. my girl has learnt frorm him so i only needed to train one dog. its a rush and if your boy likes to pull im sure you would be suprised at how good he would be at it.

Hes gorgeous, he has a staffy head, you will always see variations, how tall is he to the withers, I think thatwould tell you tbh, if hes massively taller than maybe somewhere down the line some other breed is in there, either was hes gorgeous

Do you have any other photos? Have a look at his tail? My sister thought she got a full staff and that he was just tall, hes actually crossed with a lab he doesnt have a staffies tail haha

On the one where he is sat down he looks like a staff, and his tail does taper to a point, he does have some of the breed standard, he has black nails which dogs of a solid colour should have, if I was you id measure his height, he may have some american staff in him, hes gorgeous though, theres not many dogs I know with that colour that arent a staff tbh or type ofbull terrier, did you see his parents?

I just had a light bulb moment and when ive had a look at some photos, i think he is crossed with a rhodesian ridgeback, have a look on google at some of the photos, especially the colouring, hope I may of helped, he does had the staffy mouth and many of the features

He's 24 and half inches high and weighing in at 28 kg

I think he maybe crossed with a rhodesian ridgeback, 24 inches is very big for a staff

I'm not sure i know ridgebacks it's definitely not ridgeback

His colouring is from his mum his dad was a strange fawn champagne colour

My dog is fawn, and she's a staffordshire bull terrier. To be honest he's probably a mix of 2, 3 or even 4 breeds! He doesn't look like a pure bred example of any breeds. I'd just say he's a crossbreed.

I used to own the dad but had to rehome him due to my work circumstances at the time :s

between me and my friends we own his nan,grandad,mum,dad,brother and 2 sisters

I was asked if beau was x with a mastiff

I would say she looks like a x French mastiff or a x pitbull

She's lovely looking ether way markrobo. I've just always wondered what's in bam will always love him would just be nice to know that's all obviously with a cross you will never know properly

People have asked if she was pitbull but I just say she's a staffie x

I get it with bam and give the same answer his dad has been registered as a (of type) tattooed and needs to be walked on a muzzle constantly that's all I know

My misses is worried about her but I just said she's great with people and other dogs there's not a bad bone in her body

no worries even if they do decide she needs to be tested then allow it if ur confident she will pass all of the tests im sure

This is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier forum, and as much as we welcome Staffordshire Bull Terrier crosses, we do not condone the breeding of illegal breeds of dogs, including Pit Bull "type" dogs (which are usually crossbreeds that fit the right measurements). Backyard breeders and irresponsible owners have a lot to answer for in the downfall of the reputation of our beloved breed, and we are here to promote responsible breeding, rescuing and general ownership. You have previously mentioned that you would like to breed Bam, despite our advice not to, and have now declared that his dad is of type.

I have worked with the RSPCA for many years assessing and caring for illegal breeds, and have personally had to put to sleep more dogs than necessary due to BSL, so I have little patience for people that knowingly breed these dogs, and boast about keeping them. It is highly unlikely that your dog is a Pit Bull Terrier, no matter what the bloke down the road (who most probably has no professional training) has told you. Mark, we have also told you on many occasions that we believe Beau to be a Mastiff cross. Please try to keep these threads to a minimum, Pit Bull Terrier's are an entirely different breed to Staffordshire Bull Terrier's (the breed that this forum is dedicated to), and so really they do not need to be discussed here. If you believe that you have unknowingly taken in a Pit Bull, for god sake, don't boast about it on an open forum. If you have a genuine concern, contact DDA watch. But other than that, I think this thread can end here.

Sorry if I've said anything thing wrong I just said my dogs a staffie cross it's other idiots who no nothing about dogs who say other I do not condone the breeding of illegal dogs or back street breeders

Mark, it's not that you've said anything wrong it's just a concern that this thread could well turn in to a Pit thread and we would not encourage that because of the bad press and it could encourage others to join that think it acceptable to breed "Type" or worse.

Mark, dont worry mate. its the stigma that bully breed owners have to carry on our shoulders that burdens us down. we all know what great dogs staffies and many other bully breed dogs make including pitts but we have to stick with the law here. I personally think you have a large staffy and not a mastiff cross as they are huge, i walk with one every night... you will be unlikley to find a pure pit in the uk, and thouse that are here wont be on general sale. you may have a type but its nothing to brag about if you want to keep the dog. just enjoy him, keep active and have fun working him
