OCD
was wondering if anyone could help iv been to the vets hundreds of times with my boy moby who is 10 and a half from being a pup he is obsesive about licking his feet and has been diagnosed with doggie dermatitis wich then he will scratch his ears and the thing stars inhis ears. i belive he is OCD but the vet laughs at mebut i think he is. i get ear drops and cream for him and after a couple of days that sorts its self out.
now in his senior years he likes to scratch his mouth untill the blood is pouring from his lips every second he gets he will do this so now he wares a satalite helmet when we leave him alone i have took him to the vets and she says there is nothing to do with him he drives me up th wall scratching is mouth, every time he trys to do it i check his teeth and make sure there is nothing stuck around the area and every time there is nothing thereiv even used dentle floss on him just incase he dosnt mind this as i have alwas brushed his teeth and he has really healthy teeth for a dog of his age it drives me potty and the only thing i can think is that he is OCD he is a very healthy boy.
can anybody help me with this or do you have a dog that does this. its a shame for him having to ware his helmet

Re: OCD
Have you thought about putting something on his feet? Some booties for example?
Someone on another forum had an EBT that constantly licked his paws & scratched his muzzle & they bought some of these.........

It may help to break the OCD cycle.

we tried that and he could take them off we also tried spray and he got use to the taste and quite liked it so the helmet is the only thing we can do xx

Re: OCD
OCD can be very difficult to deal with. Some vets just don't recognise it! The only way you can combat it is to watch him like a hawk & correct him every time he tries to lick or scratch.
If ocd becomes a real problem then you may need medication but hopefully you can stop him before that's necessary.

Re: OCD
My Skibadee does this, she has terrible allergies. She itches her paws chin and stomach, I have been to a few different vets and spent tons of ££ but they have never been able to do much apart from diagnose it as atopic dematitis and prescribe me steroids (we only used them for a couple of weeks). I have tried tons of shampoos, anthistamines etc but the only thing which lessens the itching seems to be these 'New Era' homeopathic tablets. I give mine 2 twice per day and it seems to ease her itching.
