Sleep
Hi,
3rd day in with my pooch and wondering about her sleep patterns. At the moment after a walk, she gets home, we have a mad 10 minutes playing tug and then some training and then she just plonks herself down and sleeps. So far about 2 hours. She is on meds at the moment for her skin condition so I am taking that into account. Just wondered if other people's staffy's are always active or also sleep quite a bit?

Re: Sleep
Sounds quite normal for them to have a snooze after play and a walk.
I would make the most of the peace and quiet

Re: Sleep
Try some games also at bedtime this way the dog will be tired and not awake all night the dog will slowly realise when bedtime is

Re: Sleep
She actually sleeps soundly at night too. Last night beside my bed, woke up and she was on it next to me. I am just wondering what sort of exercise she previously had and if not much then the change in routine may also be a possible. We have between 2-3 hours a day out walking.
Re: Sleep
She shud be ok was just a suggestion

Re: Sleep
Bo sleeps almost all the time inside, always has done. He gets 5 - 8 miles of walks a day, half of that up steep hills, and the rest of the time he'll either sit and look out of the window (if it's sunny) or sleep. He'll always sleep soundly from 8pm - 8:30am with just a pee break when I go to bed. He has plenty of energy outside, though, it's just the way he is.

Re: Sleep
Most dogs, especially well exercised ones, will sleep/chill for 15 or16 hours per day. You need to decide when these hours are. The time in between naps is the fun part filled with play, exercise and training.

Re: Sleep
Lula is pretty lazy and would miss her morning walk if allowed to. I think its down to the cold weather with her.

Re: Sleep
Pixee is lazy in the mornings, loves her sleep
She does have plenty of walks, and I make sure she has a very long one too. Sounds normal. Oh, I have always called Pixee my shadow, she tends to follow me everywhere too

Re: Sleep
My Flo isn't a morning girl at all. She also sleeps a lot so it's not that unusual, neither is being a shadow
