ok I took my pup nico to the pet shop today for a collar (Pics up Later) and the owner is a retired vet and had confirmed that my poor boys tail is broken. I Am DEVESTATED Sad

it made me wonder for him only being 7 weeks old what could have possibly done this. we actually think its broken in two places which is worse but is it possible to break back into place and put a splint on it to make it straight again??

If this was an intentional break I will be reporting the breeders to the police

It happens, unfortunately, and dogs seem to do very well. Sometimes something as simple as just rough play between pups can cause injuries like this.

Don't stress too much. You can't unbreak it, and if Nico doesn't have a problem with it, then there's no reason to worry (unless you were planning on showing, I guess).

Rocky also has a kinky tail, we guessed it was done when he was very young (before we adopted him) if someone went to catch hold of it ? I guess we will never know for sure. The rescue centre did not removed it as it doesn't cause him any pain.

If you are concerned about the breeders then contact the Kennel Club, they should know the procedure to go through.

Also just wondering, why do you have him at 7 weeks old? he should stil be with his mum shouldn't he?! As the breeder has given him up before 8 weeks old, that's a sign of a bad breeder right there...

Hi everyone ... erm im waiting on a call back from the vets to get an appointment.

Debs i agree whole heartedly with you that he should Be with his mum until at least 8 weeks but to be honest if i am thinking it was maybe a break from the owners i believe he is in better hands.

It doesnt really seem to bother him however if something can be done for him Id like to get him fixed.

bless you for rescuing him Smile
trouble is while theres kindhearted people about these rogue breeders will continue to win
if youve any doubts about the welfare of the dogs please report them - leaving a puppy with a broken tail not getting any vet attention is definitely cruelty
hopefully your little man wont have any problems having a wonky tail - itll add to his character
