Left the Park Today because of a pinch collar
I got off of work early today so I took Valentine to the big dog park. It's about 20 minutes away so we don't go there too often but it is a nicer park than the closer one. The only other person there was an older gentleman, 50's, with a young male German Shepard. The GS and Valentine were playing great and running around and I noticed he had one of those giant pinch collars on. I walked up to the owner and asked if he would mind removing it because they were playing and I'd hate to see a dogs tooth get caught. He said, "sorry, its a valuable training tool". I again explained that I've seen dogs get tangled and that that type of collar will break teeth should something happen. His reply, "I'll keep an eye on him". I called valentine over, put her on the lead and said, "Good, watch him play by himself!" and we left him and his dog all alone in the park.

Hate them things, and "its a valuable training tool" just translates into "I'm too lazy to do some real training"

Terrible things, they should be banned. Anyone who uses one is an idiot who doesn't care about the welfare of their dogs.
TBH I'm not a fan of collars at all, I don't see the need for them, but these prong collars and choke collars are plain wrong.

Good on you for standing up. Never understood the need for them pinch/prong collars.

Cruel things - even in experienced hands they must still hurt like hell. Poor dog. Well done you for making a point
