Worried about Mika
A week or so ago, my girlfriends dad told me he thought Mika looked pregnant. I just laughed it off as she's always been a wee chubber and thought nothing of it. Last night when I came home she was jumping about as usual, jumping over a visitor to the house and just being herself. Then I opened the door and she bolted upstairs and wouldn't come down no matter how much I called, went upstairs tried to chase her down but she wasn't having it. She always comes running when I call her. Wasn't until she heard me open the cupboard to get a treat did she coming running. She ate some biscuits, drank some water and all of a sudden was panting heavily with her tongue out as if she'd just had a walk. She looks bigger than I've seen her before and it just seemed very odd behaviour from a normally obedient dog!
I didn't want to pup her until much further down the lane as puppy's can be hard work and expensive. As we're approaching Christmas it's probably not the best time to be funding puppy's, also I have no idea how she could be pregnant, she is very very rarely near a male dog. Last night just has me a bit worried

Re: Worried about Mika
I think the best thing is to get her to the vets for a check-up. It could be anything not necessarily pregnancy
Also, please think carefully re breeding. Unless you are a registered breeder, which I'm pretty sure you're not from your post, you shouldn't even think about it. There are far too many staffies in shelters waiting for homes there's no need to add to the population.

Re: Worried about Mika
She's back to herself today! I wonder if she'd done something bad last night that I haven't yet discovered and was worried of a telling off and no treats lol. The vet sounds like a safe bet. Breeding isn't something I definitely was going to do anyways so if you think I shouldn't that sounds like a good reason not to, that's another reason why I hope she isn't

If you dont want the dog to become pregnant i would suggest having her speyed provided she is 5-6 and not a puppy obviously.

If she was older, speying her is something I would definitely have done. She's only over a year old

Re: Worried about Mika
I'd take to the vets if I were you just to make sure she's okay. If you've noticed her a bit bigger than usual it's best to get it checked. When was she last wormed?

A check from the vet as soon as you can, she may have another condition other than pregnancy which may need medical attention.Talk to the vet about a possible spay.
