Silver in Essex, VERY URGENT

Meet our beautiful Silver - isn't she gorgeous?



Silver has been at the RSPCA Danaher Home in Essex since May. It's very, very hard for her. She spends as much time as possible either in the office with the staff or in an outside run away from the other dogs. All that barking is very upsetting.

Silver came to the centre through no fault of her own. Her owners were unable to care for her and the other dog in the home. Due to this they started to fight so need to be rehomed. Silver is a very loving dog and likes nothing more than to be around people. She hates kennel life and is very stressed by it so spends time between the office, her kennel in a quieter block and an outside exercise area so please ask at reception to meet her. She has a lot of energy and enjoys her walks so would like an active home where she can spend time walking with you. She will also need a home that will help her overcome her fear of being left.

Silver has been reserved! This is just fab, fab news as we were getting very worried about her. Her stress in kennels was a welfare concern and we were wondering how much more it would be fair for her to bear. Then along comes the best news possible for her.

Lots and lots of fingers and claws crossed on this one, please.

I probably can't use the language I'd like to on here. The chap who had put a reserve on Silver turned out to be a complete numpty. He was told that she was bad with other dogs but decided he wanted to see for himself. Without asking a member of staff, when walking her he approached another of our staffies and Silver launched at her. Thankfully, a) he chose Maisie who is pretty chilled with other dogs, b) Silver didn't get close enough to damage more than Maisie's nose and c) a member of staff was nearby and was able to fly over and take control.

Silver is a real concern. The stress of kennel life is taking her toll on her and we are all wondering how much more it's fair to ask of her. She was never going to be an easy dog to rehome - she's aggressive towards other dogs and suffers from severe separation anxiety. Poor lass.

It's not looking good. We're having one all out last ditch effort to find her a home, otherwise she will probably be pts. It is simply not fair on her to keep her in this state of distress. She's spending her days in reception so she has human company but that can only be a short term thing as her being there means others aren't and there are many who benefit from a few hours of respite

So if anyone knows anyone who is dog-savvy, doesn't work and doesn't have a dog at the moment who could take this little girl on, please get in touch. With people she is your typical loving staffie, and would make someone such a loyal companion.

Silver's background is that she was kept in a yard with another dog. They fought, probably out of frustration, over food, goodness knows. I don't think there was a prosecution, but that Silver was signed over to the RSPCA. I'm not sure what happened to the other dog, this was all before I started going there.

They don't have great resources for working on behavioural problems, but what they can do they've tried with Silver but it's not really helped. She just sees red.

The other really difficult issue is her separation anxiety. A qualified behaviourist (she's a good one), assessed her recently and tested her separation problem by leaving her in a washroom. The intention was that she'd be left with a chew for half an hour, but after 20 minutes Silver had tried to chew through the window frame.

The only time Silver is happy is when she's behind reception. Then she'll have a cuddle, lie down and sleep.

So that's the problem. She's beautiful, she's loving, she's playful. But she's got issues that mean no one wants to take her on and kennel life is intolerable for her.

silver sounds like a certain lady close to my heart on certain parts every dog deserves a loving home all the best to you silver.

Silver's case is now super urgent. She is suffering badly in kennels. Please, please, please, if anyone can offer a practical solution for Silver, get in contact asap.

We've been looking for a foster home with no permanent one forthcoming but we can't find one of them either.

Silver could be rehomed anywhere in the country, but because of her medical and other needs I understand that they would prefer a foster home nearby. I will mention about Wood Green, though, as that's not so far.
