Lip smacking

At night just before we go to sleep axl will get on the bed, lay down and smack his lips together a fair few times, swallow and then put his head down to sleep. It's only ever at night and he's done it for as long as I can remember but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

I don't think its a health problem as he's fine in himself, drinking and eating okay but I've got him booked into the vet next Saturday for a mot so I'm going to mention it to the vet just in case!

Mia does this too every so often shes fine after a drink.

Thats very interesting because Harry does the same thing and its always
worried me a little.  Harry did suffer from gastric reflux at night when
he was lying down at one time and I wondered if it was something to
do with that.

Would appreciate hearing what your Vet has to say.

aww sash also does this and its always just before she drifts off to sleep,i always thought it was sweet

I think it's cute lol! My oh thinks it's annoying lol I told him there's always the sofa to sleep on! My boy stays with me <3

Vinnie does it to upon times usually when he has been asleep for a while I think its because he has a dry mouth. Hope all goes well at vets Deb

thats what i say to hubby too

Bo does this but mostly when he wakes up and for several minutes after eating too. I find it funny, I love the sounds he makes, especially his noisy eating and the loud belch he does afterwards.

i think i'ts a sign of contentment but best mention it to the vet

Flo does it nearly every evening at some stage or another. I also think it's a sign of contention but would be interested to hear what the Vet says. Hope the MOT goes all ok Debs

Soooo vet visit went well although my vet thought it would be funny to get axl off the scale excited and then let him off his lead in reception lol. He was doing zoomies around the reception and stopping to kiss the nurses! He had so much fun I must have the only dog who loves going to the vets lol.

He's fine and the lip smacking is just a habit and nothing to worry about yay!

Oh what to do now .....

Sounds like Axl had a blast at the vets and that all is well.... Rolo lip smacks... normally when i reach for the biscuit tin....
