Winter gear. Empty Winter gear.

It'll soon be time to drag the winter kit out again. Over the years we've tried loads of gear, probably you all have too.  So what's your favourite winter wear?
For dry and cold I wear a snugpak suppa softee jacket or a rab fleece, in the wet I'm lucky enough to have a submariners coat. The obligatory berghaus fleece hat for the baldy head and a pair of sealskinz gloves to keep my pinkies warm and dry. Footwear is always merrell shoes or boots or muckboot wellies.
I know I sound like a labels man, but after trying too much to contemplate, my advice is to buy the best kit you can.
Stay warm and dry,
Pete

Pretty much the same as summer, just more of it. I have ordered a Petzl Pixa 3 head torch, though, so we can go walking on the fells and in the woods after 4pm or whenever it goes dark in the deep Cumbrian winters.

I couldn't get through a winter without my Rab jacket, yes I know it was very pricey but I just don't do cold:

http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/rab-womens-neutrino-endurance-jacket-2C110009?channel_code=110&id_colour=143&product_code=73493526&utm_source=google&_$ja=tsid:45886&gclid=CLPr-K61msECFdTLtAodjg0AVQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

I also have two North Face windwall jackets which are very warm too, not sure if these are still available, but it's like this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/The-North-Face-Womens-Pink-Ribbon-Denali-Fleece-Jacket-Coat/121341930793?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3D838239680e7f4a3197fcfc2b1fe00e8e%26pid%3D100204%26prg%3D20140407115239%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D20%26sd%3D251664757128

Boots are Brasher Lightweight Fellmaster boots which are very comfortable and warm which can be found in a thread lower down from here.

I have a Maine waterproof light jacket which I use year round but it's getting a little tired now.

Last 2 years I've had a pair of Karrimor boots but the rubber upper perished last year so will be looking for new boots now the weather has really turned.

Can't knock the Karrimor gear, waterproof was about £25 and took one hell of a battering up Snowdon last week kept me dry. Invested in a down gillet from there this week sooooo warm and about £100 cheaper than North Face

Sports direct is my staple lol, got some Nike waterproof trainers from there and I live in them for dog walking until it gets floody or deepish snow when the wellies come out

I have invested in some waterproof sealskinz gloves this week tho (the one big problem I found on the mountain) from all I hear of them tho they will be worth it to keep my hands warm and dry

I get so hot when walking, I don't like to wrap up too much. I wear a light fleece, over which I wear a Toggi Duck Down body warmer (£7.50 in a Charity shop and the best buy ever) I wear Rab gloves, as my fingers tend to get cold, and a thermal bandit to keep my neck and ears warm under my baseball cap. Boots are Brasher Walking Boots, or wellies when down the fields. If it is raining heavy, I put on some waterproof trousers.
