Sophieb908 Pit ?

Hi guys - i'm having the same problem with the mother in law - she is convinced that Ped is pit - she keeps asking what he's crossed with and why he's so tall and we dont honestly know! its causing a proper divide really in the family! Do you think he's Staffy Pitt? he's going to the vet tomorrow and i was thinking of asking him but dont want to put ideas in their head incase they're obligated to report him - would hate for Ped to have to be muzzled and kept on a lead - he loves chasing his ball too much!

Looks full staffy to me

A few people have said he looks like he has english bull terrier in him but that doesnt explain the height...

Gosh I am terrible at this...at first glance, I thought the first photo from the side looked slightly jack russel!
They come in all shapes and sizes and unless you have papers you can't be sure. We've had people say they think Bane is crossed with a pit or english bully too when it would probably be more likely a whippet or something like that.
Lil pedro looks gorgeous none the less, love his eye patches!

Haha it was just something about his face from the side that made me think that but given his size would be very unlikely!

At 14 months though, he is still only young, they don't fill out properly until 2/3 so when he chunks out he may look more Staff just larger
My parents was very leggy until this age and they are convinced he is this mystical "Irish Staffy" breed...now he's filled out (and got a bit podge) he looks 100% Staff just an inch or two bigger than usual

Unless he displays any aggression you have nothing to worry about anyway x just looking again and he has a long neck, maybe a bit like a pointer?

Hi Emma - when will he be fully grown? has he stopped growing up now and will just grow out? He's already 24kg which I thought was quite a lot! lol x

Sazzle funny you should say that - i swear he has some gun dog in him! He has his nose to the ground the whole time we're walking and if he loses his ball in the bushes he wont stop until he's found it! Maybe all staffies are like that though? x

Ped looks like a gun dog cross to me too. Certainly not a pit bull. Could even be some collie in there from way back?!

Not at all my staff is a cross pit (I have had her though the courts and all legal) she is on the small side and the face looks a bit to long for a pit if any thing she looks like she has a bit of border collie in her..it's always hard to get a full pedigree staff these days..I went to get my girl as a full pedigree staff only to find out at 10 months old she was crossed with a pit..She was socialised with other dogs at 10 weeks old and never ever had a problem with her being aggressive with any dog or person! It's all about how you bring them up..

Thanks chris -Ped's got a lovely temperament...we call him Ped-ophile cos he loves kids so much...stares at them in the street lol and he's been great with the other dogs we've met - OH's mum hates him though.


I asked the vet anyway today what he thought he was crossed with and he said he would just call him a staff but obviously somewhere along the line a taller dog was put into the mix. hopefully we can tell ryans mum and she may come around to the idea!

Madge has got long legs and a slightly pointy face - if there's any cross in her I think it's whippet as she runs very fast too.

Just thought I'd throw my opinion into the mix - think its highly unlikely either Ped or Teya are X pitt. Staffies are so mixed these days it could literally be anything. People often asked me about my old staffy cross Pat, pretty sure she was Staffy x whippet though because she was so fast.

How tall at the shoulder is Ped?
Google English Pointer and look at the images. You will see some interesting head shots of the white and black ones. Their colouring is very uniform much like Ped's.

Hiya he's about 26 inches to the shoulder - i will look now - i did look for staffy x pointer images and i thought the colourings were much likes Ped's.

I remember 20 years ago outside a dog show being held in South Wales there was a lad with his 'Welsh' SBT. It was well over 18 inches at the shoulder but was definitely a SBT.
