stupid people!!!!!

now as you will all know Woody is the most loveable dog on earth, he likes everyone & everything and thinks everyone else feels the same about him. we had an incident at the field last night that has made me soooooooooooooo mad! now i know a staffy running full pelt may be a bit intimidating for those that dont know him or the breed but for godsake dont overreact!

we were on the field and a fair distance away was a woman playing football with her son - not a small child maybe about 12-13 years old. after playing wiht a child the night before Woody thinks its play time again and runs full pelt across the field to join them. no jumping up, no noise at all..........................from him. Now the "child" starts screaming like a banshee, really wish i could replicate the noise but am sure it would break the sound barrier! obviously Woody thinks this is a sign off greeting and proceeds to run around the banshee - again no jumping up or noise from his lordship. the banshee is screeching so loud it nearly pierced my ear drum and proceeds to start flapping his arms up and down like he's about to take off. Woody then decides the football is his and runs off with it, cue more screeching! i took the ball away and gave it the mother and said he will pop it if he has it, the dozy idiot puts it back on the floor straight away and looks flabbergasted when Woody runs off with it again - child/banshee commences the screaming fit again!!

in the end i put Woody on the lead again and walked off laughing to myself about how stupid people are.luckily another woman on the field had seen the entire epiosde and said she " wouldve slapped the silly little sod if it had been one of her children!". our dogs then had a good play together and true to form Woody ran off with her dogs tennis ball and destroyed it!

Sounds like you had an entertaining time, although I can relate to your side of the story, and the other side too. My 12 yr old has a strong dislike of birds (seagulls, pigeons, ducks, roosters, crows, magpies etc...) and sometimes gets in a bit of a "tizz" if they come towards her. The child may have had a bad experience previously with a dog.......but in saying that, it does'nt sound like the mother was much help in the situation.

I had to chuckle at the bit about the ball though

Woody was just doing what any staffy would do... try to steal the ball and destroy it! If Jethro hears a football being kicked .. he thinks it is his. One time he ran onto an oval while they were playing footy and tried to steal the ball!!

I had a good giggle reading this post made my friday morning lol. Bless poor woody must have been confused by the childs noises.
