Hello
Hello Every one,got my staffy timmy from the SPCA centre a month ago he was a stray. He's between 3-5yrs old they think. Most loving dog I've every seen loves humans. He's fitted into our family like a glove. Only problem I seem to have is every time were out walking he try's to go for nearly every dog which is a worry, he has a few scars on he's face and chunks missing out of both ears, fearing he might have been a fighting dog before he ended up in the home. Myself and my family have Grown so attached to him. Really want to try and knock this on the head asap. Any help suggestions would be most graetful.
Thank in advance
Andy and timmy

Re: Hello
hia from me and sasha ,well done for rescuing him ,do you know any one with a dog thats calm and gets on well with other dogs?if so you could try and walk both dogs on lead, owners in the middle and dogs on the out side, walk together like this until you can see your dog is comfortable with this then bring the dogs together, still on the lead and see if he is comfortable with this keeping a close eye on him all the time, may take a bit of time.also when out walking, get a long lead for him that way you will have control of him if other dogs are around,

Re: Hello
Hi & Welcome from Flo and me
Well done for rescuing. You're going to have to go back to basics to reduce the DA behaviour. Whilst using a long lead, work on the recall so that you build trust between you both, once you've got a handle on that start a watch me command. This can be used when you feel that a "situation" might kick off. My girl has moments and I use a distraction method which is her stick, she adores her stick. You will gradually learn Rocko's body language which will help. It's not a quick cure but if you keep at it I'm sure you'll get there. Definately invest in a long lead though.
The above advice is very good too.

Re: Hello
Hi from Iza and me Distraction method worked for us in getting Iza to ignore other strange dogs and people walking by. She got all excited and it alarmed some dogs.
