Body Language - Turning his back to me
Hello
When Alfie wants attention or to be stroked he often sits in front of me but turns his back to me??
I find this a little confusing, any thoughts??
sorry just realised I've posted this in the wrong place but don't know how to move it!!!

Have moved to chat but not really sure about what he would do that, does he like having his back rubbed best?

Re: Body Language - Turning his back to me
Alfie loves physical contact of any kind, head to toes. I've always viewed a dog turning his back to you as a sign of respect (as long as it's not in fear or a sign of being uncomfortable with a situation) so he just confuses me with this. Unless he's asking to be on my lap??

Re: Body Language - Turning his back to me
My Alfie does the same! Lol Its usually either if he is not allowed on settee but wants love or if we have guests and he is getting bouncy . I call him over and get him to sit, he always sits like this, maybe to keep eye on them (and leap back onto them, when my guard is down), but I tend to lean forward and stroke his head and tum.
Never seen anything wrong with it though, he likes to lean on my legs.

They are cheeky little beggers when they want to be! Just checking if anyone thought this could be a sign of dominance, as Alfie will push his luck given half the chance

Re: Body Language - Turning his back to me
its simple, he is just showing you where he likes to be rubbed and fussed. laska will roll over and flop on her back for a tummy rub while marley likes his shoulders rubbed. when it come to fuss they aint shy saying where they like it

I think it's a bit of a staffie 'thing', my last two would always sit like that next to me. Certainly wasn't a sign of dominance. I called them my book ends

Lily sits like that I reckon they like to keep an eye on what ever you are looking at in case they miss out
