Well I'm glad it's not just me that's a geek then
Where I live, the planes fly over almost all day on their way in to Heathrow (wind direction dependant) and it does become a habit to look at the noisy sod that's flying way too low and find out who it is !
It's usefull too if you are picking someone up from the airport as you get a near real time update as to where the plane is. I've used it numerous times for that.
The down side is that my kids think I'm a sad old man watching the planes
