Most dog friendly country ever visited!!!
And will be living in has to be ANDORRA - a tiny little country nestled in between France and Spain.
We've visited there a number of times over the past few years and just got back from spending 5 days there getting our new home sorted and it still blows us away every single time at how dog friendly the country is. There are dogs (on leads) EVERYWHERE - in the city, supermarkets, malls, department stores, banks, hotels and restaurants. There were very few places that dogs aren't allowed and just knowing that we'll be able to bring Marquez with us practically everywhere has us all excited for our move there. What we loved was seeing dogs of all sizes and breeds out with their owners and all so well behaved and so friendly. Our friends there say this is normal for them to be well behaved as dogs are raised to be around people and other dogs so they really don't know any better.
Our daughter was well and truly in dog paradise and with the help of her BFF who speaks fluent spanish, asked so many owners if they could approach and pet their dogs. Angel has already said that she'll be learning to ask "Is your dog friendly and can I pet him/her" in castellano (spanish), catalan (official language of Andorra and what they speak mainly in the north of Spain) and french which are the 3 main languages spoken up there.
Here are just a couple of pics from our visit back to Andorra and soon to be home town
Apparently this dog parking is a new thing as we didn't notice this at christmas. This is at the supermarket in one of the main department stores.
Angel and Izzy meeting an extremely friends EBT at the supermarket
Making a couple of new friends while we were out shopping
We saw one very young and excitable brindle staffy and what looked like a older staffy cross/possible am staff that I didn't get a chance to take a photo off but both dogs were lovely and friendly too.
So if anyone is looking for a dog friendly country to holiday with their dogs, Andorra is the place to go as you will definitely be able to find a hotel that allows you to bring them as well as being able to take them out in public.
Has anyone come across any other places/countries that are as dog friendly as Andorra?
