typical raw hide bones/ took them away
These are your typical raw hide bones. Saphie loves them but it doesn't take long for her to soften them up. I find her trying to swallow the entire bone . I took them away . The deer antler bone seems to be a safer bet for her.

Completely agree! Am not a fan of rawhide at all - a lot of chemicals go into preserving it and as you say it gets soft quickly and can all too easily get lodged in their throats and stomachs.
The deer antlers/stag bars are natural and packed full of good minerals; last ages and are good for their teeth

Me too, stopped buying them when I heard about the dangers of bloat and all the chemicals they use to strip the fur!

Goodness I really didn't realise raw hide was that bad but will stop buying it straightaway (only really buy the cigars). Did buy stag bars but neither of my girls were the slightest bit interested and they are just sitting in their toy box un-chewed.

When our lose interest in their stag bars we either:
- soak them in water for a bit (the stag bars, not the dogs )
- make a small whole in the top and stick peanut butter in it/around the top

Also don't use raw hide.. too risky and too many chemicals! I stick to nature diet stuffed into a kong, or raw bones/carcasses!

I have been using these for Densil - bleach free and don't stain carpets. they also last him ages as I buy the big one.
