8 weeks notice Empty 8 weeks notice

Post by Guest Fri Jun 10 2011, 17:42

4 weeks ago i was given an 8 week notice from my landlord to leave the property. Why i'v not been on much if at all I'v got so much on my plate
I'v been looking for a new place anyway but now i just got a boot up the back side only thing is
the closest place is 4 miles away (walking distance)
and there is no where else at all that i can afford unless i move to the other side of country and i can't do that (I want to but can't).
its a flat
bedroom/lounge
bathroom and a kitchen in a block of flats
its really small but i know the dogs will be fine because as usual we will be out all day except feeding.
only one problem NO DOGS....
I'm stuck i don't know what to do I will sneak them around and when people call they will have to go into hiding.
If i am found out i'll be out on the street and then what definatly no place for the dogs or me
My mum has offered me a place here but NOT the dogs so if worst comes then ill have to buy an all weather shelter/kennel/something for down the allotment (just the thoght makes me cringe).
My family wants me to get rid of the dogs because they are a liability????....they don't understand what goes on in my head i wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my pets.

when we moved out of our flat (not forced just wanted to move) we found it hard finding a place that takes pets, and that was before we bought harvey, but we managed to keep 13 snakes amongst other things hidden for 2 and a half years.

But it really is hard finding a place that takes pets never mind dogs, i feel for you!

I never knew that landlords could be like that about pets.
I wasnt allowed pets when I was a child and my parents used to say when you get your own place you can get as many as you want.
I really feel for you good luck something will turn up >Big Grin<

Oh, Claire, I'm really sorry that you're going through this. I can't offer any advice other than keep looking for 'the right place'. In the meantime, it's possible you could hide the dogs when anyone calls, but what about the neighbours? Would they report you?

Claire you poor thing, I so empathise with you. We have been through a similar thing since we moved to Perth from Adelaide. We were on a lease up to Oct but the owners contacted us early March and wanted their house back asap. We weren't in a position to buy at that time and had to find another rental house where we could have our girls. We found a great house that would allow our dogs and I got a call from the real estate at work questioning me on whether our dogs come inside. I lied through the back of my teeth and said "we chose this house for it's huge undercover area that will be safe from all the elements like our house in Adelaide and the dogs never come inside no matter what". A few hours later the RE rang to say landlord had accepted our application only to be told the landlord lives across the road from the house we'd applied for. I had to accept this condition or I'd lose this house and a weeks rent. I now live in constant fear that they will hear the dogs in our bedroom in the morning or somewhere else inside or the neighbours on either side will dob us in.
It peeves me off more for the fact that we have rented our house out in Adelaide and allowed our tenants to have pets (hoping for dogs) and we are made to feel like crap over here because we own dogs.
Seriously does my head in, hope things work out for you, unfortunately not everybody understands our thoughts in regard to "I wouldn't be here but for them". My eldest is why I'm still living and breathing, so if you need someone to chat to or any support, you have mine and my girls so that accounts to 300%.
Good luck and do what you think you can live with.

Oh man, I sympathise. My new landlady offered us the house and then I mentioned Charlie. She wasn't impressed but agreed to let us have the house if we paid a higher deposit. She's actually put a clause in the contract saying that we are not allowed to have any more dogs here. i was turned down for a few places cos of Charlie, all of them saying the same thing - that the place was mine if I'd get rid of Charlie - NOT A CHANCE!!!!!

I really, really hope you find somewhere with someone who is understanding enough to let you have the dogs. I had to tell my landlady that Charlie would be crated whenever we leave the house and at night and she still wasn't happy - some people just dont understand.

No other place has come along yet so its going to have to be the flat/studio flat which doesn't allow dogs, sure i can hide the dogs but like said living in constant fear and i don't know whether my new neighbours would grass on me, i know one of them owns his place and he has a dog and what if Taz tries going for him dog he's definatly not going to like that is he.
Its only going to be for a short while, until something else pops up, and Caryll i don't think there is a place to hide the dogs its so small but there is room for their crate in a seperate room and ill have to work with my lot to get them to zip it when they hear activity in mine if someone comes over.
Its just going to be a complete disaster and i really don't need it right now.

That really sucks Claire. Couldn't your mum have you and the dogs there shore-term, just to give you a little extra time to find somewhere more suitable?

Aw good luck then. I hope you manage to get something sorted that means you can keep the dogs with you and not live in fear of bein caught and kicked out.
