What to do after a dog scuffle
So Bane and Domino have been getting along great and are now best buds as long as there are no toys or food down to squabble over.
Last time we were home however, for some reason Bane had a treat or something on the floor which naturally Domino was very interested in. He went over to see what was up, Bane snarled and they had a bit of a fight.
With the help of the OH we got them apart and seperated them. I checked over the damage and cleaned up their cuts and got them back together to try to resume normal behaviour *with hawk eyes! Domino was a bit grumpy for the rest of the day (I think he came off worse :/) but after a few minutes Bane was back to his annoying self trying to play with Domino as if nothing had happened.
I was just wondering, in the case of a dog fight, is it best to seperate them and leave them apart to cool off?
Or better to get them back together to get bahviour back to normal?
I wasn't really sure what to do at the time and was just wondering if anyone had any experience or advise?

When Daisy's had fights with my sisters dog we separate them and once they've calmed down carried on as normal

Providing their body language is possible I'd just let them cool off and go back to normal, avoiding the trigger in future.

I would think back to normal with close supervision. A walk might also be a good idea

When Flo has a tiff with one of the in laws hounds, we tell them to go in different directions and just leave them to it. Obviously it would be wise to keep a beedy eye on things.

Thanks guys will keep this in mind! It's the first time they have had a proper fight and came at a bit of a shock.

Alfie and my parents dog had a proper fight the other day too.. It really scared me me. They play fight a lot but it's never gotten serious until Alfie tried to steal Dottie's treat and they both just lost it. We just separated them for the rest of the evening and they were fine the next day! Just overly careful now when giving them treats!!
