Are you houseproud?
I'm hopeless at housework and so is the Mister. Any hints on how to be better at it? (maybe get off my lazy butt).

Re: Are you houseproud?
I HATE HOUSEWORK !! I can't see the point in it - BUT - I do make sure my bathroom & loo is clean and sparkly and the kitchen tops are clean & sparkly - the rest can wait and wait and wait. I do vacuum now and again.......but...........I'd rather be having fun & going out with my doggy
I don't make my bed in the morning anymore either cos as soon as I pull it straight Milo decides to be a pot holer and dives under it then head butts the covers off then the pillows off onto the floor - little bugga

Re: Are you houseproud?
I wouldn't say that I'm house proud but I don't like the house to be dirty.. though it's often messy. I'd say I do a full clean (kitchen blitz/bathroom blitz/all bins empty/hoover whole house/mop/dust and polish) twice a week, but always wipe down sides/bleach toilet/hoover every day/every other day, depending on how long my shift is that day! And laundry I do as and when, though my OH is a lazy bugger and doesn't do much unless prompted, so there's often a 2 feet hile pile of laundry to be folded/put away in our spare room!! He's a bloody nightmare lol! I just remind myself how little time it takes, and how much better I feel when it's done/I can then relax and do fun things if I just get it out of the way, otherwise it niggles at me lol!

I have a clean loo and bathroom. I just have mess everywhere. I'm going to shame myself in to tidying up

you could have eaten of the floor until about 7 years ago, then life has taken it's toll and I don't get it as clean as I wont to, he says get a cleaner in but I would clean before she got here

Re: Are you houseproud?
My OH is similar to yours Rach - nightmare keeping up, but I do try. I used to be neurotic, until the dogs came along. Now I just try and keep up, and I'm still neurotic about clean floors. I try to do a little every day.
I'd give anything to get a cleaner in, but like Bren I'd just do it myself and be worried about someone going round the house.

I hate it!! When working, I was well organised with the chores. Since retirement, I have turned rather lazy and I now just say "Ohh bugger I will do it tomorrow" then another day comes and say the same It does get done eventually but there's certainly more to life than BLOODY HOUSEWORK!!

I like my house to be clean and clutter free, but often its not! I hate it when clutter/stuff builds up, I believe in clear home clear head. That's why I have no working brain most of the time!

Re: Are you houseproud?
Kitchen and Bathrooms are always clean. Hoovering has to be done a good couple of times a week cos Flo's rope toys end up everywhere.
The problem I have is Dust !.. Having a Parrot means having Dust and you can never have a completely dust free living room !
I am lazy where the windows are concerned but pretty good with the garden

Oh yes the infamous rope toys - aren't they just a pain in the rear ! The dogs love them so so they're forgiven but I hate the things lol

Re: Are you houseproud?
I have kinda the same issue as Rachel, I like to be clean and tidy all the time but then OH isn't quite so good at it but being fair and say he isn't capable of doing it very often due to his disability.
I cannot live in a mucky place and get a bit obsessed sometimes with cleaning and could spend whole days doing it.

Re: Are you houseproud?
My mum actually suffers from OCD so we weren't allowed to do any cleaning when I lived at home lol! But my mum taught me before she booted me out!

OCD here too, a place for everything and everything in it's place, I bleach the kitchen everyday, Hoover everyday, bleach the toilet everyday. Change the beds once or twice a week, wash clothes everyday too, my mum and big bro also have it xx
