Dog tag - what to put on it?

Just a quick question. We are back to UK and need to get Debo new tag. What info do you put on it? I really don't want to put me address on it. Is my numer, Debo's name and info that he's chipped enough?

I never put Vinnies name for obvious reasons, I have my mobile and my hubbys mobile and "I am chipped" aswell   

Do you put your address as well?

Ours have their names and our mobile numbers as well as another tag that says they're chipped. To be fair though, we don't have anywhere much to go off lead. Inez's idea of not putting a name on actually makes sense - hadn't thought of that before!

No I dont hun thats all on the micro chip, and wouldnt want a break in aswell

I just think that its easier for someone who may take him if they call his name he is more likely to respond xxx

Iza's tag had chipped on one side and the other side has my surname, mobile number and post code but its a little village i live in so everyone knows where she lives anyway.

the law demands your name address and postcode wether your dog is chipped or not.

The Tag that Flo got from Battersea has our surname, Address and contact number. She also has a separate tag saying chipped. I think it probably is the law to have all that but would think a contact number would be sufficient these days as we all have mobiles.

telephone number is optional. to be honest i only know this because the subject was on this forum last month and i realised tessas tags were wrong with just my mobile number on so i went straight to pets at home for correct tags for all 4 of tessas collars.

I wouldn't put peppas name for nothing and also not my name cause it will sound familiar to her although she calls me mummy.   
I'm horrible owner as she don't have a tag yet but she's microchipped the only thing that will be on her tag is me contact no. and that she's chipped But we're always in eyesight distance.

Well there's many companies but www.identitag.co.uk are doing bone one for £5.50 I'm going to order tomorrow just to be on the safe side its never ending story with this babies lol

I don't think is wise to put your address on it. Just ordered one and put surname with phone no and i'm chipped note.

From someone who has found two strays in the last month or so which has meant me spending 2hrs+ with each trying to find their homes (both within 2mins walk of my house and where I found the dogs) address is essential out of office hours you try and find a warden or vet who can scan for a chip! KC were happy with Ledgers just house number and Postcode as the address.

Oh and neither owner spoke very good English so calling would have been pointless!

Meg's currently has my surname and home phone number. I would never put her name on a tag for the same reasons that Inez has put. The tag isn't big enough to get much more information on any way (I suppose I'll have to get another one). She is also microchipped.

This is a legal requirement now that all dogs in a public place should be wearing a collar with ID tag stating owners surname address and optional phone number, although I don't have my address on darcys or her name xx
