do any of you take any sort of first aid kits whilst out walking your dogs?out a while ago walking sash when she let out a high pitch yelp and laid down  Surprised ,ran over to her and she was fussing round sniffing one of her back legs, when i looked she had a bloody wasp on her, after i beat it off her she was limping and must of been in a bit of pain cos she goes all daft when some things hurting her,i was on my own and bout half an hours walk from home, stupid things went through my mind like what if she had a bad reaction to the sting and collapsed, made me think may be should carry some sort of first aid kit with me,took a slow walk home and bathed her leg with some cooled salt water and just keeping a eye on her, just made me think.

I always have a first aid kit in my back pack with me which would contain antihistamines. At the very least I would always have water with me so would be able to wash any wounds/bites etc. down. Maybe a good idea at this time of year when wasps and bees are likely to sting would be to carry a small pot of honey too, this can be rubbed onto a dogs gums if need be to raise the blood sugar level again after a sting.

I make sure I always carry my mobile as can get help with a phone call. But its a good idea when walking in remote areas to carry a first aid kit
