This handsome gent of a dog is Buddy, a brindle cross who despite his size thinks he is a lap dog – and loves nothing more than a cuddle on your lap. Buddy is 16 months old and is being fostered in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

He is a dog who is so full of love that the family who is lucky enough to adopt him will find the love they give him is returned by the barrel load. He just loves cuddles! He has a very comical way of snoring and twitching when he sleeps. Buddy is a very laid back dog – as cool as his name! He has a super waggy tail which he likes to exercise as often as possible! He is a very polite gentleman and is so gentle when he takes a treat from a hand. His foster mum says he is the perfect house guest.

Buddy came in to us after being hit by a car which damaged his shoulder. He is not on any medication. We worked on building up his shoulder muscle with lots of short walks and play it is all healed now and he is so much better. He can understandably be a bit nervous when a loud car passes, but is getting less nervous as time passes.

Buddy has shown no signs of aggression whatsoever. He is polite and fully house trained – a very well behaved dog. He is starting to get a little more nosey about noises outside! He loves everybody and is good with children (foster family have children aged 9+ but he has met children aged 5 and over). He gets a little excitable when he spots other animals, children and occasionally bin bags (!) whilst out on walks. He loves other dogs and plays very well – he enjoys sprint racing and tumbling with them.

Buddy travels well in the car – he can be a bit fidgety if sitting on his own, but he will curl up next to anyone who sits with him! He actually loves going to see the vet! He gets a bit excited by all the other animals, (well, they must be there to play mustn’t they?).

Buddy loves to be touched – especially an all over body rub! He isn’t at all dominant with his food – he sits and waits until told that he can eat. He stares at first when humans are eating but gets bored after a minute or two when he doesn't get anything! Buddy is not at all dominant with his toys either - he will play a version of fetch and always lets go of any toy when a human plays with him.

At the moment he is always on a lead when out, but we believe he jumped a 5 foot fence at last foster home – so fencing will need to be both high and secure. He will chew his toys and will chew if left on his own - pillow, shoes or toys – so needs something to keep him occupied. He is such a good boy - he goes to "bed" when told and just curls up and goes to sleep! Often goes in his crate just to have a nap. As he will chew he has been crated if left on his own and has also had crate rest as part of the healing process on leg.

Buddy is lead trained. He walks well most of the time but can pull if he sees something he wants to investigate – he is easily reminded who is in charge! He is interested in other animals. He hasn't met any cats in his current foster home but is too interested in their rabbits to be allowed to be rehomed with small furries! He is very sociable with all dogs – he can a little excitable at first but plays nicely with all types of dogs. We are working on keeping him calm when he sees other furries until he meets them and gets to play.

Buddy is looking for a family who are prepared to meet his exercise needs – to play with him and cuddle him. He's a sofa dog, so no one who minds dog hair on the sofa. His new owner will have to be prepared for him being a bit of lummox - that tail can be lethal to anything caught in its path! He will need someone fairly strong to take him on walks as he still gets excited when he first sees other dogs. His foster mum has been making him sit and watch until he calms down which he is doing very well – but the first couple of pulls of excitement can be very strong. This beautiful boy will give his family lots of love and is looking for people who will return his affection.

Buddy is neutered, up to date with his flea and worming treatment, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. Prospective adopters will be expected to travel to meet him in his foster home in Bicester, Oxfordshire
