Hi all 
I'm a new staffy mummy to Lollipop , she's 8 weeks old and adorable. Any help and advice will be gratefully received , I'm totally new to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed . I also have a 4 1/2 yr old boxer dog , Marley . Am I right in thinking the breeds are very similar ? xx

Hi and welcome to the forum from Meg and me. Well done on getting a staffy, you'll not regret it! 
I don't really know a the Boxer being a similar breed, but I would say not. The Staffy was bred from the english bulldog (not the breed you see today) and terriers (I have read the predominant one was a Manchester terrier). Also, the Staffy really originated in the Black Country, not Staffordshire. A guy called Joe Mallen formed the first club at the 'Crossguns' pub in the 1930's. Someone with more knowledge on the site may be able to tell you more.

The experience I once had with a Boxer made me decide to get a dog.
I met her in Spain, she lived with her owner by the sea and every time I went swimming, she would swim with me and climb on to my back when I was doing breast stroke. It was the most incredible feeling. I was very moved. I felt that she was extremely affectionate and optimistic, and in that sense my Staffy does remind me of her.
