The Staffordshire Bull Terrier in History and Sport by Mike Homan is a book I've had for a while now. It's not a book everyone would like as it goes back, sometimes quite graphically, into the origins of this fantastic breed of ours. Some of the tales about these brave dogs are hard to take but where would we be now without this horrible practice? Staffyless!!
It does give you a few "ah now I see" moments like where the dudley nose comes from. It can be shocking at times so please be warned but if you can get past the nastiness I highly recommend it.

Yeah, it's not cheap but even the 2nd hand copies hold their price well so read and sell could be an option. I've read it twice and loaned it out a couple of times so we've had plenty out of it.

Like to look around books in the charity shops, will keep an eye out. Found a few bargains in my time
